Spectacular save by Kelvin Davis to really keep us in the Saints 2 Norwich 0 game. KD really did earn the MOM  vote for me, one save was like the Gordon Banks world cup save, this time KD fell to the ground to get his hand to a low driving shot and the ball deflected off him to go over the bar. Goals from Jordan Robertson (superb curling shot to top left at the Northam) and David McGoldrick (Pen)  helped Southampton see off 10-man Norwich to claim their first home Championship win of the season and what a bonus a Skate sent off too!. Although still just under 15,000 its still all the season ticket holders + 3,000 and still better than the Skates had for 10 years in the old Div 2.

Very important win Doncaster 0 Saints 2 and a good display in the second half, so could this be beginning of the team playing to a system and who slots in where.

Mills had his brother slot home an own goal which is unusual in football but thats the luck we need also. Out of the relegation places to 20th

Southampton: Davis, James, Wotton, Lancashire, Mills, Cork, Lallana, Schneiderlin (Perry 66), Surman, John (Pekhart 13), McGoldrick (White 82).

Subs Not Used: Forecast, Paterson.Goals: Mills 50 og, Surman 58 pen.

Well after the Carling Cup loss to Rotherham (3-1) with our usual squad and some players on exceptional wages compared to the opponents I think its relevant to start the `relegation part 2` page.

About 48 places below Saints, yes I will repeat that for the Southampton FC board and its intelligent life form `about 48 places below Saints`, that's the team Rotherham remember that as they are a proper football team with a proper way of playing football.

There are some factors which need to be considered which are accelerating Saints spiral to the lower leagues and possibly non league football.

1) Not investing enough of the £65m + raised from selling our best players for new talent to continue to a higher place in the Premier League since we got to the FA Cup Final and UEFA Cup.

2) Selling all our best players means you are left with average or less talented players.

3) Not being able to identify how important at least 2 decent defenders is to a team.

4) Not being able to identify how important at least 1 decent forward is to a team.

5) Playing inexperienced and very young players to the extent of 6, 7, 8, of the squad is just asking to get beat.

Ok we can acknowledge that this 2008/9 season the football being played is `real football` compared to the total rubbish last season. But there seams no way of getting results from the games we should win, and lets be honest a lot of the teams we have played are NOT that good.

Just look at our team below and there are certain players who should do well in this game today and if not and that's accepted by the club then how on earth is the team to get any wins, or enough to stay up which is the key point.

Rotherham: Warrington, Tonge, Nicholas, Sharps, Fenton, Danny Harrison, Mills, Cummins, Rhodes, Reid, Broughton.
Subs Not Used: Cann, Hudson, Burchill, Garcia, Green, Yates, Joseph.

Booked: Mills, Broughton.

Goals: Fenton 20, Danny Harrison 56, Broughton 69.

Southampton: Bialkowski, Svensson, Perry (Pekhart 77), Cork, Mills (John 55), James, Surman, Wotton, Wright-Phillips (Dyer 63), Lallana, McGoldrick.
Subs Not Used: Forecast, Paterson, Hatch, Thomson.

Alarm bells were ringing during the Barnsley game last week and believe me it wasn't entertaining and lacking in some of the basics of football.

1-3-5-1-1, 3-3-2-1-2, 5-3-1-1-1, 3-5-2-1 , continental, xmas tree formation, what the fucks all that about. What's wrong with 4-4-2 each week? at least the players have grown up with it, it gives balance and cover the the team and the positions.

Its an absolute disgrace to let Southampton FC get to this situation but the board is happy and confident in their master plan for RELEGATION PART 2.

No wonder the attendance has dropped to just under 15,000 per game, who was it that said `you cant win anything with youngsters?`  probably about 12,000 who watched the Barnsley game.

Better lookup the way to Yeovil, Huddersfield, Stockport etc
